I have enjoyed using this website for a number of reasons, mostly because as the website states in its mission statement, that you can get on your soapbox about any topic that is important to you. YOUR OWN SOAPBOX. How is cutting and pasting someone else’s web content, and passing it off as their own considered YOUR OWN SOAPBOX and original? Wouldn’t that qualify as someone else’s soapbox? Hmmm, this is worth exploring for a moment. I believe that in today’s society where anyone is able to access tons of information at any given moment on the internet it would be extremely easy to cut and paste. However, to actually come up with your own ideas and opinions and get on your own soapbox about something, well, that would take time and energy. For example, take our friend indieradiochattanooga. S/he decided to cut and paste an article from http://www.scribd.com/doc/26896/SUING-FOR-TOO-MUCH-SEX and pass it off as his/her own thoughts. What’s wrong with this you might ask? Nothing, unless you actually have your own ideas and opinions to share with interested readers. Then you might look at this action as extremely lame and pointless. For, if a reader wanted to look at that article, wouldn’t they just look it up on the original website? I believe so. I didn’t really want to read it, and then was forced to comment on it so that there would be some original content attached to his/her posting. I am interested in this indie’s thoughts and ideas, not someone else’s. So indie, please use some originality in your postings, so that us interested readers could explore what you really think about the world at large, not regurgitate someone else ’s opinions.
